Finding the right skincare can feel like an overwhelming mine field. Right now having a 43 step routine is en vogue, but you do not have to have a train case full of products to make your skin look and feel great, at any age. You also don’t have to have harsh chemical peels and lasers, and for those with sensitive skin, many of those pricey interventions can just make matters worse. I’ve seen friends slathering on retinol like it’s their job, and they end up with dry skin that looks and feels older, not younger. (All of those prescription items have their place, and I’m not your derm, so this isn’t medical advice. *Disclaimer delivered.*)
I personally am in that sensitive skin camp, and because of that, I started using clean beauty products before they were called that. There were very few options in the 1900s, but there were definitely some OG brands that I continue to use now. I still use products by Dr. Hauschka, MyChelle, and Evan Healy quite religiously (they’re heavily featured in my Clean Beauty Storefront). I am constantly tweaking what I use and trying new things, but my foundational products stay the same.
I’ve recently put together a curated Clean Beauty Storefront that holds my faves, and everything on the list is suitable for sensitive skin. The vast majority of my choices here are also vegan, with the exception of some beeswax and honey, here and there. Every product I recommend is also 100% cruelty free.
You’ll notice that there are a lot of different skincare oils featured in the Clean Beauty Storefront, and I stand by my decades-long obsession with those. Even skin on the oilier side can benefit from oils: in many cases, oily skin is just trying to moisturize itself, and topical oils can help it stop over-producing oil. I always have multiple oils in my cabinet, and I rotate through them, but one that you love will do – and it doesn’t have to be the most expensive one, either.
Give the Clean Beauty Storefront a browse, and email me if you have questions about anything!
